TENTH ANNUAL CINEVEGAS FILM FESTIVAL TO HONOR
CAAN, CHEADLE, DAWSON, HUSTON, MORTENSEN AND ROCKWELL

Las Vegas - As part of its 10th anniversary celebration, the CineVegas Film
Festival will honor six actors who have made significant artistic contributions to
film and the film industry, it was announced today by Trevor Groth, Artistic
Director. The Marquee Award will be given to Anjelica Huston for her
accomplishments in the film industry throughout her esteemed career. Don
Cheadle, Rosario Dawson, Viggo Mortsensen and Sam Rockwell will each be
honored with a Half-Life Award for the work they have done thus far in their
careers. The honorees will participate in moderated conversations, which are
open to the public, on Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21. Additionally, James
Caan will be honored with the Festival’s special Vegas Icon Award, sponsored by
the LVCVA, which is presented to an actor who embodies the spirit of Las Vegas
and who has delivered memorable performances in films and shows set in the
city. The awards will be given out on Friday, June 20 at the CineVegas Honorees
Reception, to be held at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino pool.

“Over the past 10 years, CineVegas has honored an impressive body of actors,
directors and producers, and this year is no exception,” stated Groth.  “What
better way to celebrate a decade of recognizing talent than to honor James Caan,
Don Cheadle, Rosario Dawson, Anjelica Huston, Viggo Mortensen and Sam
Rockwell, whose brazen careers mirror the innovative and uninhibited films the
Festival shows each year.”

An award-winning actress and director, Anjelica Huston has received 29 honors
for her work including multiple honors from the National Society of Film Critics,
two Independent Spirit Awards, the Los Angeles and New York Film Critics Awards
and an honor from Women in Film. Huston received a Best Supporting Actress
Oscar for her role in Prizzi's Honor, and in 2005, she received a Golden Globe
Award for her role in HBO's original movie Iron Jawed Angels. Huston has also
received Emmy nominations for her television performances, including the CBS
mini-series Buffalo Girls, the mini-series Lonesome Dove, the television film
Family Pictures and her work in the TNT mini-series The Mists of Avalon. Additional
credits include memorable turns in the hit Addams Family and Addams Family
Values films, as well as in The Grifters, The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life
Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Her directorial debut was an unflinching adaptation of
Dorothy Allison's best-selling memoir, Bastard Out Of Carolina, which garnered
Huston Emmy and Director's Guild nominations. Huston was most recently seen in
an acclaimed cameo in The Darjeeling Limited, and will be seen in the upcoming
film Choke, which will screen at the 2008 CineVegas Film Festival.

Since being named the Best Supporting Actor by the Los Angeles Film Critics for
his breakout performance opposite Denzel Washington in Devil in a Blue Dress,
Don Cheadle has consistently turned in powerful performances on the stage and
screen. Additional film credits include Talk to Me; the 2006 Oscar-winning Best
Picture, Crash, which Cheadle produced; Hotel Rwanda, for which his performance
garnered Cheadle Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, Broadcast Film Critics
Award and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for Best Actor; Reign Over Me;
Ocean’s Eleven; Ocean’s Twelve; Ocean’s Thirteen; and the Academy Award-
winning Traffic. Cheadle is also well recognized for his television work; having
received multiple Golden Globe Award and Emmy wins and nominations for his
roles in HBO’s The Rat Pack where he portrayed Sammy Davis Jr.; HBO’s A Lesson
Before Dying; and a guest-starring role on ER. An accomplished stage actor,
Cheadle originated the role of “Booth” in Suzan-Lori Parks’ Pulitzer Prize-winning
play Top Dog Underdog at New York’s Public Theatre. Cheadle is currently working
on a film based on the life of the jazz legend Miles Davis, and he has just wrapped
on Traitor and is awaiting the 2009 release of Hotel for Dogs.

Making her film debut in the highly acclaimed and controversial hit Kids, Rosario
Dawson has since emerged as one of Hollywood’s most sought after leading
ladies. She was last seen in Quentin Tarantino’s horror project Grindhouse, as
well as Descent, which also served as her producing debut. Dawson’s other
memorable roles include Mimi Valdez in the 2005 film adaptation of Rent;
Alexander, The Rundown, Shattered Glass; and Gail in the 2005 film noir drama Sin
City, a role she will reprise in the film’s highly anticipated sequel, Sin City 2. She
also starred in Explicit Ills, which premiered and won the audience award at the
2008 SXSW Film Festival and will screen at the 2008 CineVegas Film Festival.
Dawson will soon be seen in Killshot and is currently filming the drama Seven
Pounds, which will be released December 12, and just wrapped filming on Eagle
Eye, which will be released September 26.

A highly accomplished actor, poet, photographer and painter, Viggo Mortensen is
a true Renaissance Man. His movie-acting career has been marked by a steady
string of diverse performances since his screen debut as a young Amish farmer in
Witness. Critics have continually recognized his work in close to 40 films,
including A History of Violence, The Lord of the Rings, A Walk on the Moon,
Portrait of a Lady, La Pistola de Mi Hermano, Carlito's Way, The Indian Runner, and
The Reflecting Skin. For his role in Eastern Promises, Mortensen received
Academy Award, Golden Globe, SAG and BAFTA nominations for Best Performance
by a Leading Actor. As part of Mortensen’s tribute, CineVegas will play Alatriste, in
which he plays Spanish soldier-turned-mercenary Captain Alatriste. He has shown
his photographic work in galleries around the world, and his books of
photography and writing are available from Perceval Press, the independent
publishing house he founded. This fall, Mortsensen stars in The Road and he
recently completed production on two films: Appaloosa and Good.

Sam Rockwell is one of the most dynamic actors of his generation, taking on
challenging roles and creating memorable characters throughout his career. After
making his feature film debut in Francis Ford Coppola's Clown House, he has gone
on to star in such films as Joshua, Heist, The Green Mile, The Assassination of
Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Rockwell’s portrayal of Chuck Barris in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind won
critical praise, as well as the Berlin Film Festival's Best Actor Award and
Movieline's Breakthrough Performance of the Year Award. A prolific stage actor,
he was seen in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot at The Public Theater, Face Divided
as part of the EST Marathon series, the Off-Broadway production of
Goosepimples, and The Dumb Waiter and Hot L Baltimore for the Williamstown
Theater Festival. Rockwell can be seen in Clark Gregg’s Choke, which premiered
at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and will screen at the 2008 CineVegas Film
Festival. He recently completed the lead in the ambitious British independent film
Moon and is currently working on the films Gentleman Broncos and Everybody’s
Fine.

One of the most versatile actors in motion pictures, James Caan is best known for
his Oscar-nominated performance as Sonny Corleone in The Godfather and for his
Emmy-nominated portrayal of football star Brian Piccalo in Brian’s Song. Beginning
his acting career on stage in 1961, Caan followed with a powerful slate of guest
appearances in virtually every major television series of the day, and since then
has appeared in more than 50 feature films. Caan also earned great recognition
for his roles in the highly successful and critically acclaimed film, Misery, and was
equally praised for his performance as a brain damaged football star in The Rain
People. He was most recently seen in the mega-hit comedy Elf in which he co-
starred with Will Ferrell and in Dogville co-starring Nicole Kidman. With his
tributes to Las Vegas in both Honeymoon in Vegas and the television series Las
Vegas, Caan is a true Vegas icon.
