"De-Lovely" is about Cole Porter one of America's famous composers; mine too!  Porter led two lives that
most people do not know about.  The film tells about his two lives and his love of his wife that is not one
that most people would understand.  It truly is an unusual love story.

His music was legendary.  I have always loved his music and was aware of his other life.  The film portrays
Porter's life as an event on stage...I thought this very appropriate as much of his life was hidden from the
publics view.  It made the story much more interesting and the music being sung by modern singers was
also very nice.  Some of the cut-a-ways were distracting, but overall I enjoyed the film very much.

The homosexual content in this film about Cole Porter does not detract from the film and is done
tastefully.  I think if you have an open mind you can see how this man could write such wonderful love
songs.  My feeling was his wife was influential in helping him get ahead in his career and also an
influence in his writing.  At times he did seem tormented between his two lives.

Kevin Kline as Cole Porter was outstanding, Ashley Judd as Linda Porter was excellent (a very good role
for her, her dramatic abilities shown through).  The two were very believable in their roles as husband
and wife.

Jonathan Pryce was also good.  I was so excited that Pryce gets to sing in this film.  Peter Polycarpou as
Louis B. Mayer was funny and the musical number was funny.  The dance numbers in the film were very
good as was the art direction.   I love period pieces.  The costumes were wonderful.

The one thing I might say is the cut-a-ways disrupted the music and that is the only thing I really did not
like.  If you like Cole Porter's music, I can't see that you would not enjoy this film.

You must see it on a big screen to get the full enjoyment of this movie.  This was a great era when ladies
wore great dresses; the scenery and sets were magnificent.  I could see this movie again and can't wait
to buy it on DVD!

I had seen a biography about him years ago and this pretty much followed that and they include
everything. I do not want to give things away. It was very well done and I feel that in this day and age it
will not offend most people. It truly is a love story as I think one line said there are all types of love and I
think you know what I mean.

He was such a great composer. My friend who saw it never heard any of his music before, a much
younger person than I and was blown away with the music.
