2004 CINEVEGAS FILM FESTIVAL
Tributes/Awards
The “Marquee Award” was given to three-time Academy
Award winning actor Jack Nicholson before the screening of
“Drive, He Said” (Nicholson wrote, directed, and produced
the 1971 film) at CineVegas.  “Five Easy Pieces” was also
shown during the film festival.   The “Marquee Award”
recognizes the artistic excellence, professional
accomplishment and dedication to cinema by an actor or
director whose talent has in a fundamental way advanced
film art.     Some other well-known Nicholson films are:
“Chinatown,” “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” “Terms of
Endearment,” “Batman,” and “About Schmidt.”

Another thing about Jack Nicholson is he is an avid “Los
Angeles Lakers” basketball fan.  It was a joke before the
festival if the “Lakers” won the playoffs would he attend the
festival?  Well, they unfortunately lost, so Jack came to the
festival!”
