| The film was written, directed and produced by Andrew Wagner; he financed the film himself and used his own family in the main cast to costs low. Andrew Wagner's mother and father play the lead roles of a husband (Allen) and wife (Judy) whose marriage is just managing to survive. Allen finds out his medical problems make it impossible to have sex and also are worse than he thought. He does not let his Judy know about this and that causes a riff in their marriage when she wants to have sex. They are also distant with their son Andrew. Judy wants to get closer to their son who lives on the other side of the country, after she finds out two former teachers know of a job opportunity close to them. So Judy convinces Allen to pack up the SVU (which he just bought when they can't really afford it) and off they go across the country to see their son Andrew. Along for this bi-coastal road trip are the two daughters. One has just gotten off the plane from California and now Mom wants her to travel back to California with them. This makes for an interesting road-trip. This film has many funny experiences along the way. They encounter some usual people and pick up another young girl (a friend to one of the daughters) along the way. This bizarre road-trip is the main storyline and it is funny, dark at times, but enjoyable. My only problem with this film as it seemed to take twists and turns that did not seem plausible. It was well filmed and for a first time directing job well done. The acting was also good. I enjoyed it and know that if it gets picked up for distribution that it will be an audience pleaser. |
