Michael Eisner's, CEO of the Walt Disney Company, Press Conference Regarding Disneyland 's 50th Anniversary Events in 2005.
The 50th Anniversary will be called “The Happiest Homecoming on Earth.” It will not only be an anniversary party at Disneyland, but will include events worldwide at all the theme parks. The worldwide celebration will be called “The Happiest Celebration on Earth.” The anniversary party will last 18 months starting in 2005.
One of the original hosts for the television show Art Linkletter was there today. He hosted the opening event at DISNEYLAND® Park July 17, 1955, which was open to invited guest only.
Julie Andrews will be the Honorary Ambassador for the 50th Anniversary. She was also in attendance at the Press Conference.
Disneyland’s new/renovated attractions to open in 2005 are: Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, and the Main Street Opera House will feature the first 50 years of Disneyland.
Disneyland’s new parade will be called, “Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams.” This will be the biggest parade ever at Disneyland. It will feature floats celebrating famous Disney animated films.
The castle at Disneyland will be decorated with gold and jewels. There will be a crown on all five turrets of the castle. A new fireworks show is planned and will be called "Remember Dreams Come True."
California Adventure will have a new event “Block Party Bash,” it is an interactive parade celebrating Pixar & Disney.
The Disney Cruise line is coming to the West Coast. The 2,600-passenger ship the "Disney Magic" will be leaving from the Port of Los Angeles. The ship is scheduled to sail 12 consecutive seven-night cruise vacations each Saturday from the Port of Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and Cabo San Lucas between May 28 and August 19, 2005.
Walt Disney World is importing Cinderellabration, an import from the Disney theme park in Tokyo. Paris is to have “Wishes” a fireworks show.
It is amazing how Walt Disney’s dream has expanded from one theme park Disneyland to…The Disneyland Resort is “The Happiest Place on Earth,” featuring two theme parks, an entertainment district and three hotels. All within walking distance are: Disneyland, Walt Disney’s original theme park; Disney’s California Adventure, Disney fun with a whole new attitude; Downtown Disney District, a public esplanade of dining, family entertainment and shopping; the luxurious 745- room Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel; the 489-room Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel; and the 990-room Disneyland Hotel.

SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCI OUS - Michael Eisner, Julie Andrews and Art Linkletter teamed up with a host of young Disneyland guests this morning after unveiling plans for “The Happiest Celebration on Earth,” a worldwide event kicking off May 5, 2005 in honor of Disneyland’s 50th anniversary. The 18- month-long celebration will span the globe with activities in each of the 10 Disney theme parks as well as the Disney Cruise Line.
