I have now seen the show 4 times and each lead performer twice.  I feel the entire cast is very good.  This is one of the best
casts overall I have seen in the 16 plus performances of “Phantom of the Opera” I have seen in Los Angeles, on Broadway
and now in Las Vegas.  Congratulations to the casting personnel and the cast of this production.  The cast has come
together very well in the few months since it opened.  One thing that is impressive is that the leads rotate and the rest of
the cast blends well with the leads.

Much of the credit of course goes to the director Hal Prince for mounting this production and blocking it so the ensemble
can perform with the different leads.

At the latest performance we had an understudy in as Piangi (Bruce Ewing).  When understudies go into a show it can be
awkward at times, specially since the leads change.  But Ewing did a good job working with the cast.  That is why I am
impressed with this entire cast.

I have now sat in 4 different places in the theatre, which allowed me to view different aspects.   The last time I was closer
and could see the Phantom’s makeup better.  I noticed the makeup is different from other productions.  As the person
sitting next to me said it was very good.  I find that the only problem with this seat was that the mirror scene.  The actress
playing Christine is directly in front of the Phantom’s reflection in the mirror, otherwise the seats are very good.  We got
some first hand looks at cast members that do at times go beyond the stage.

This production really makes the audience feel a part of the show.  With Prince’s direction, a great cast, and theatre you
feel as if you are really part of the strange happenings at the Paris Opera House.

When you enter the theatre check the "Call Board" to see who is in the performance you are attending.  The
Curtain Call
listing has the entire cast listed.  They also post list understudies that may be performing in the show that night.

Vegas' Arts & Entertainment Corner will be back to the see the Phantom.  My editor and myself enjoy this production and
find something new every time we visit.  The one thing about live theatre the actors change and sometimes their
interpretation changes as they explore their characters.  I have noticed this in not only the actors playing the Phantom, but
also other actors in the cast of this production.

For changes to days/times see the Official Website
“Phantom Las Vegas.”

Saw the show again with on October 28th:

Patrick Leveque (who earned a Master's Degree in Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music) was in PHANTOM
last night as Raoul. Leveque's acting is very good. He performed the role with ease and made it his own. As for his singing,
let me just say this young man has a very promising career. What a voice!

There were inserts in last night’s program for two new cast members. One was in as stuntman Drisco Fernandez and other
Holley Steeley is a Ballet Chorus member. Both performers have done work in Las Vegas in the past according to their
credits on the inserts.
