TANZ DER VAMPIRE is a cult-musical. The
production is based on the film of Roman Polanski.
30 years later Michael Kunze translated the
extremely funny parody on the vampire-genre into a
grandiose musical-version. Since it’s world premier
in Vienna more than 3 million enthused spectators
watched the rocking fast show with the music of Jim
Steinman.
“The musical has gotten itself a cult!” (Hamburger
Morgenpost)

TANZ DER VAMPIRE tuged it’s audience out of the theatre-
chairs with furious dance scenes, spectactular light- and
spezial effects and costly costumes.

The rocking fast music is based on the world hit “Total eclipse
of the heart”. With this song stars like Meat Loaf and Celine
Dion were at the top of the charts, was extra new composed of
Jim Steinman for TANZ DER VAMPIRE.
BILD --  Musical with fun and a bite...

The coffin-wall is sliding eerily onto the stage. Fog is
billowing, the covers open up - vampires climbing out. They
bare their teeth, hiss.   And they set off to the castle of Count
von Krolock. To the ball of the vampires.

The musical "Tanz der Vampire" is a great performance with
a lot of comedy, a high scary-factor and rightly cult. The world
premier was 1997 in Vienna. Now was the premier in the Neue
Flora. Roman Polanski have
got the stage direction.

It's about Sahara’s (Jessica Kessler) longing for freedom. She
escapes from the honesty of her home - directly to the castle
of Count von Krolock. They follow her: Alfred, who's in love
with her, and professor
Abronsius, who want to attend the vampires.

The stage design: imposing. The dark castle with it's entwined
pillars, coffins in a dark crypt. Unique: the vampire-ensemble.
They danced and sang amazing. And when Thomas Borchert's
singing "Sei bereit" (be ready) in the ancestral portrait
gallery, it's getting scary and you also
get goose bumps.
Hamburg Vampires elate: World stars like "Dracula"-actor Christopher
Lee and his "Lord of the rings"-colleague Cate Blanchett celebrated at
Sunday evening the Hamburg-premier of the cult-musical "Tanz der
Vampire".

More than 1,800 honour guests flocked over the red carpet into the Neue
Flora to watch the musical that was very successful in Stuttgart in the past
years. The musical is based on Roman Polanski's eerie-funny
film-classic "Dance of the vampires", which captured the screens in 1967.

Roman Polanski, who also came to the premier and was acclaimed with
rousing applause,  also directed the rocking stage-version. He explained
that since the world premier in Vienna 1997 some things were improved.
"That's the best cast that we ever had", he said.
